I had a fabulous week in New York City at the Lafayette 148 Design Summit!

Last week, I was invited to New York to get a personal, behind-the-scenes look at Lafayette 148 and their design process.
It was such an incredible experience meeting the CEO and founder, Deirdre Quinn (pictured below), and her amazing design team.
While attending the summit, we had the luxury of not only going to the showroom on the Lafayette Street in NYC, we were also given the opportunity to meet the designers of knits, denim, leather goods, occasion dressing, suiting and more.
The thrill of seeing the new designs and patterns on the models really helped me translate how my clients can incorporate these pieces into their wardrobe and aid in styling tips from the best in the business.
We all know so much has changed since the pandemic with fashion. Let’s face it, women want more comfort and the ability to get dressed with ease since we were all living in our sweats for months on end.
So we are left with the question: what kind of woman am I today? What are my priorities in dressing? And what makes me feel my best?

At the Lafayette 148 Design Summit in New York, we learned that fabrication is essential. Women want to wear clothes that are comfortable, but still classy and elegant. Lafayette has the highest level of fabrication, cashmeres, organic cotton, premium Italian denim, and now sustainable fabrics!
What does sustainable fabrics mean in fashion? That means you can source the fabric back to its original source, mill, and even farm animals and land. For me, this is highly important - in addition to comfort, texture, and the feel on my skin.
As I get older, the way a garment feels and how it’s made is becoming more important than the fleeting trends that come and go - sending me on a whirlwind of constant buying.
The main thing I have taken away from the trip is that comfort is essential. Versatility, the ability to wear a classically tailored piece five different ways - is essential and timeless. Women are turning away from trends and buying more elegant and well made items that will last and stand the test of time.
Monochromatic clothing - outfits that are all one color - are very on trend in addition to neutral tones, camels, all white, and bright, bold colors. These can make a statement for speaking engagements, events, co-chairing meetings, and can even look outstanding on zoom calls or on camera.
I have been given the opportunity for my clients to preview and purchase exclusive pieces through a personalized trunk show, which is now available by appointment!
I will show you entire lines and style you in classic, tailored, and luxurious fabrics that are not available in any storefronts in the US.
Bookings are now available for my Fall Trunk Show, which will be held at the St. Louis Park Marriott Hotel in Minneapolis on September 27th through October 5th.
You do not want to miss this incredible opportunity.
Let me take your style to the next level!
Sincerely,
Jessica Hilde
