For over the past year, I have been splitting my time between Florida & Minnesota and have noticed so many differences between the fashion of both states. My Naples clients and women that live in its surrounding areas love to dress up and have many opportunities to do so multiple social engagements and opportunities to put on something beautiful and special to wear.
I recently had the opportunity to attend a fashion show at the one-and-only, beautiful Ritz Carlton Hotel on the Vanderbilt beach to preview Lafayette 148’s 2024 spring collection.
It was a sold out event and the luncheon was wonderful. The best part for me personally was the keynote and guest speaker, Deidre Quinn.
Deidre, the CEO and Co-founder of Lafayette 148, was so incredibly inspirational, especially for me being such a fashion girl. I was hanging on every word. She said if you don’t absolutely love the fashion business and clothes you are in the wrong business, which I can totally relate to. Throughout my life, people have tried to encourage me to pursue a career in real estate or something else but I love clothes, it's all I think about, and it was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.
She has overcome so many obstacles through creating a multi-million dollar company. Did you know Lafayette 148 has 40 free standing boutiques at some of the most prestigious locations throughout the U.S?
Creating a business from the ground up is quite a feat, especially after overcoming the shut down of the entire country from COVID. While so many companies did not make it, Lafayette's business model excelled. I believe that is a model of the company's success and resilience.
At the fashion show, the Spring 2024 collection was so beautiful and airy! The designers took inspiration from the roof top garden in their Brooklyn Navy Stockyard and crafted perfect pieces for my Florida clients: linen pants that are dressy yet casual. I especially loved the ones with the braided piping down the leg and am for sure going to get that one for myself.
The two piece hand woven knit top and matching skirt was beyond gorgeous. This piece could be perfectly worn separately with white jeans or circling back to the linen pants.
The dresses were beautiful and the color palettes were shades of the sky. Easy going pieces that would be great for travel and fabric made from recycled plastic, if you can believe that!
My take away from the fabulous spring show was that it’s time to get dressed up again! It's amazing how fast you can change your mood if you just put on something besides athletic wear!
It's ok to be that girl and inspire your friends to dress up again! When you are going out for lunch, get your friends excited about what you are all going to wear!
You could try a different silhouette - not everything needs to be super fitted! It’s okay to wear a flowy top or loose fitting pants even if you are petite - it keeps you looking current and on trend!
And finally, experiment with lighter tones: nudes, whites and light pastels are so flattering, especially on us older women as we age.
I look forward to bring you my spring trunk show in Wayzata, Minnesota this February and March! Bookings for appointments are open now and I can’t wait to show you all these incredible pieces!
