DAY 1 OF NEW YORK FASHION WEEK

Updated: Jul 8

I was so thrilled to be invited to attend New York Fashion Week with Lafayette 148 last week! It was absolutely wonderful and I was incredibly honored to be surrounded by women who love fashion as much as I do.

From movie stars to celebrities, the week was full of star-studded events and exclusive sneak peaks of exciting future things to come!

Lafayette 148 has just launched a strategic media partnership with The Wall Street Journal for 2024 and as part of the February Women's Fashion issue releasing this Saturday, Lafayette 148 joined fellow high-quality collector's brands like Hermes, Loewe, Celine, Prada, and Kris with a beautiful-full page spread that speaks to the timeless yet modern quality of the brand's foundations.

In this issue's "Packing Story" - a guide of what to pack for the Frieze Art Fair in Los Angeles - the Lafayette 148 iconic white shirt is front and center with Dries Van Noten, Prada, Hermes, and Balenziaga.

On February 13th, Lafayette 148 held its first official New York Fashion Week event at the Standard Hotel, The High Line!

This beautiful location was incredible and it was such a surreal experience to witness in-person.

Special guests included Claire Danes, Cory Michael Smith, and Beanie Feldstein, among many others!

Vogue Magazine said it best:

“This season, [the Creative Director of Lafayette 148, Emily Smith and] her team looked at the Rockefeller Guest House, the tiny glass house on 52nd street that was originally designed for Blanchette Rockefeller, who was twice president of the Museum of Modern Art, to entertain and house her collection of modern art.”
“As Smith went to walk me toward the mannequin wearing the suit, we looked up to see the actress Claire Danes getting her picture taken in the same suit.”

Additionally, Women's Wear Daily writes

“…the idea of a modern art collector and building a wardrobe for her,” Smith said within the wood paneled walls and midcentury modern-furnished High Line Room of the Standard High Line hotel, which served as the presentation’s ideal setting for “The Collector’s House” collection."
"Smith’s codes emphasized simplicity and modernity, with touches of late ‘50s and early ‘60s references. While Rockefeller would host the donors and artists in the Rockefeller Guest House, Smith knows that today’s entertaining at home calls for softer, easier takes on glamour, which she certainly delivered. Case in point: a matte mixed-chrome palette straight skirt, paired with a lofty split-hem cashmere turtleneck was divine."
"Rich in textures and soft in mood, Smith’s fall collection was a strong display from start to finish.”

According to Marie Claire's article "Clothing that Inspires You to Shop, Not Scroll:"

Lafayette 148 has "a profound satisfaction in discovering clothes you can easily imagine in your closet. While an out-there fashion fantasy hits the spot like a quick snack, pieces that offer wearability and subtle intrigue will satisfy you for years."

This event truly opened my eyes to just how exquisite and unique the brand Lafayette 148 is in the fashion business.

I got to meet the Co-founder and CEO of L148, Deirdre Quinn as well as Emily Smith, the Creative Director of the entire line!
